IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept system that augments the area surrounding a television with projected visualiza­tions to enhance traditional gaming experiences. We investigate how projected visualizations in the periphery can negate, include, or augment the existing physical environ­ment and complement the content displayed on the television screen.

Peripheral projected illusions can change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new physical gaming experiences. Our system is entirely self-calibrating and is designed to work in any room. We present a detailed exploration of the design space of peripheral projected illusions and we demonstrate ways to trigger and drive such illusions from gaming content. We also contribute specific feedback from two groups of target users (10 gamers and 15 game designers); providing insights for enhancing game experiences through peripheral projected illusions.

Iron Man 3 Beats The Avengers Opening Weekend at International Box Office

Iron Man 3 opened in 42 territories around the world over the weekend – that's about 79% of the international market, so not small by any stretch. And the latest outing for Tony Stark has so far taken a staggering $195.3 million. That's more than the $185.1 million taken by The Avengers grossed over its opening weekend.

It's worth noting, however, that in some territories Iron Man 3 had a slight advantage over The Avengers, opening on a Thursday, not a Friday like The Avengers. But saying that, the film has yet to open in Russia, China or Germany – so it's still a pretty impressive feat.

It had the highest grossing weekend ever in Argentina, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. And was the biggest opening ever for a Marvel movie in Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Hungary, Romania, New Zealand, Argentina, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines and Malaysia.

Kevin Conroy Not Returning for Batman Arkham Origins

Veteran voice actor Kevin Conroy, the man responsible for providing the Batman's gravelly tones in all manner of media from the classic 90s animated series to the two Arkham games, will not be returning for Batman: Arkham Origins.

That's according to the latest issue of NAG Magazine (via Arkhamverse), which reports that Warner Bros. Games Montreal has decided to enlist an unnamed voice actor to play the game's younger version of the caped crusader.

Alongside providing Batman's voice in multiple TV shows, Conroy has done a fair amount of video game work: in addition to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, he's also given the Dark Knight a voice in the likes of DC Universe Online and the recently released Injustice: Gods Among Us.

It's worth noting that this hasn't been confirmed by Conroy or Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the studio picking up the development torch from Rocksteady for the third entry in the Arkham series. Until we hear anything from one of them, it's possible that this is just a rumour, though it does make sense that the studio would go for someone younger to reflect the inexperience of Origins' Batman.

Batman: Arkham Origins is in development for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U with a targeted release date of October 25. A handheld companion game, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will also be available on this date on 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

Sadly Skyrim Fans Bethesda Game Studios Announced the there will be NO more DLC content for this game. It makes you wonder if they will be working on a new big hit?? Only time will tell!

 

"No, there will be no other DLC," the company said.

Bethesda Game Studios is moving on from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, its award-winning 2011 role-playing game. In a blog post today, the developer said its next project is now at the point where it requires the studio's full attention, though the outfit promised it will continue to support Skyrim.

 

"Even though we're moving on, we'll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed," the developer said. "We've invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it."
Since shipping Skyrim in November 2011, Bethesda has released three downloadable content expansions for the game (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn) as well as Kinect support for the Xbox 360 version and the Creation Kit for the PC version.
No official details regarding Bethesda Game Studios' next project have been divulged, though a past report suggests a Boston-set Fallout 4 is in the works. In addition, Bethesda parent company Zenimax Media this month trademarked a new game called "Starfield," though the publisher has declined to comment on what this may be.
 
Bethesda said last week that it would make "considerably more noise" in 2013.

Fan Creates Fallout 3 Monopoly for Wife!

Ever wondered what an immaculate fan-made Fallout version of Monopoly would look like? Well wonder no longer, as Reddit user XsimonbelmontX has provided an answer. As explained on Reddit, XsimonbelmontX spent eight months adapting the board, pieces, cards and currency for his wife's birthday, There is much more to this game that he spent so long making and putting together.

Along with changing up the standard Monopoly playing peripherals, he also revealed that the duo have tinkered with the rules to introduce things like levels and perks.

Skyrim Patch 1.9 Live!

 

 

 

Skyrim's 1.9 patch goes live on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 today. You will now enjoy a host of bug fixes on top of a new difficulty mode and changes to the skill system. Legendary difficulty and skills might be enough to tempt old players to jump back into the Skyrim world where enemies deal three times as much damage and players dish out just a quarter of their own on the new difficulty; fully upgraded skills can be reset to allow for further leveling--you don’t need to play on Legendary difficulty to do so. Bethesda has not announced plans for Skyrim DLC beyond Dragonborn, This patch will be great and will keep this epic game going! Will have review up soon as possible!

New Features:

• Legendary difficulty setting
• Legendary Skills – Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, return its Perks and allow the skill to affect leveling again. This effectively removes the overall level cap.

Bug Fixes:

• General memory and stability improvements
• Fixed issue with quest scripts that were not shutting down properly
• Companions will equip better weapons and armor if given to them
• Fixed rare issue where player is unable to learn the Clear Skies shout during “The Throat of the World”
• Fixed rare instance where Alduin would become invincible during “Alduin’s Bane”
• Fixed a rare issue where player could become stuck in Night Mother’s coffin during “Death Incarnate”
• Fixed rare issue where protected companions could be killed from poison damage
• Fixed rare issue with certain ash piles left from resurrected NPCs not clearing properly
• Fixed rare issue with NPCs and creatures respawning improperly after player fast travels
• Fixed rare crash when entering Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary
• Fixed rare crash when entering a player owned home
• Random dragon attacks will no longer occur during “Battle for Whiterun”

• Fixed rare issue with being unable to turn in stolen items in “The Litany of Larceny”

• Fixed rare issue with visiting Kynesgrove on horseback not progressing “A Blade in the Dark” properly
• Fixed issue with receiving a duplicate radiant quest from a Jarl
• Fixed conflict with clearing Driftshade Sanctuary before starting “Trouble in Skyrim”
• Fixed issue with using shouts while in jail and having guards unlock the jail cell
• Fixed rare issue with quest NPCs not properly moving to quest locations
• Fixed issue with NPCs not selling master level spells
